This course is an introductory/intermediate level computer course for teachers and school secretaries to help them develop essential computing skills. Through this course, participants will learn appropriate software applications and become acquainted with internet-based educational tools. It is designed for new computer users, as well as those who want to learn more about how information technology can be integrated effectively into the classroom. The curriculum for this course is based on the guidelines and technology foundations recommendations of the International Society in Education (ISE).
Participants will finish the course with a strong understanding of educational technology and enhanced computer skills. Furthermore, they will learn how to access a vast array of educational resources available on the World Wide Web, and collect ideas for integrating technology across the curriculum. They will also learn about assessment in the technology-enriched classroom. Relevant and current research dealing with the use and impact of educational technology in the school setting will be reviewed and analyzed. This course will widen the perspective of teachers and help them acquire modern learning techniques, and they will learn how to incorporate technology effectively so it has a positive impact on student learning.
